Well done all

Was the NIF high enough for Junior Worlds qualification or will Logrono be downgraded like Ligano was for the last 16?

Both events downgraded.

Mr Jon Williams magical spreadsheet suggests that all the L8s and L16s in WS will have a half qualifier, and that the Men's L16s will also be a half qualifier.

If so, it's all to play for in Dourdan, with Jess Davies, Katie Hendra, Sophie Williams, Grace O Connell and Katherine Kempe all now on a half qualfier with Kira Roberts already fully qualfied. And Maiyuran Ratneswaran and Athony Crutchett on a half qualfier, with Alex O' Connell and James Honeybone already qualified....

For the second time this season we have seen the anomaly thrown up by the points/qualification system, where a L8 (in the women's event) will be downgraded 2 rounds to a L32, but a L16 will only be downgraded 1 round, also to a L32...

Some great results, well done everyone!!
Who is making the grading decisions? Is it our selectors or at international level?

On the BFA website - the ranking and selection rules for Junior ranking 2007 - 8

If any of the results are in a junior competition with an incomplete L64 or a NIF count of
less than 600 (60x10) then to achieve a qualifying result they must score at least 3000

points in that competition for a L32 or 5160 for a L16. [A L16 with less than 5160 but at
least 3000 will count as a L32]
If any of the qualifying results are in a senior competition with an incomplete L64 or an
adjusted NIF count of less than 2400, (60x10x4), then to achieve a qualifying result they
must score at least 12000 points in that competition.

Neil Brown calculates the NIF count and points are awarded accordingly. I think the rankings have now been updated for both Junior and cadet men and women for 1st Feb so everybody can see where they are.

The rules go on to say that if a competition was downgraded in the previous year then the weapon committee should not nominate the competition again unless there are "special circumstances". Given that Logrono was downgraded last year....but still appears on the list of nominated competitions, whereas Goppingen was not downgraded but removed - someone must have decided that a "special circumstance" applied here.;)
