go to this page:

http://www.olympics.org.uk/beijing2008/TeamGB.aspx

and filter by Fencing. You will get brief summaries about the guys who are going. By our standards that's not bad at all. I can only find a couple of articles on the BF website but this is better than the past I think.

Now look at the FIS site:

http://www.federscherma.it/pechino2008/

Or compare with this PDF:

Impressed yet?

While we're at it, the German effort:

(Translates as "German Fencers are well equipped")

Dear All,

I think the presentation of our 3 Olympians is better now on the British Fencing site.

Only days to go.

Good luck to them all.

While we're at it, does anyone know anything about our paralympian fencer, Lee Fawcett? I only discovered we had any fencers in the paralympics by chance on the bbc website

Lee is a sabreur, currently ranked about 12 in the world in his disability category. He trains with the British wheelchair squad, which is coached by Laszlo Jakab.

The squad regularly train at Nottingham City, and will be doing so again later this month. If any experienced sabreurs or foilists would be interested in coming along, please give me a shout.

A bit off topic but i didn't want to start a complete new thread. Is anyone here actually going to china to watch the fencing?

I've also noticed there is an irish fencer in the WS, so good luck to her too!

Not going to Beijing i'm afraid.

Tickets are VERY VERY hard to come by for most of the Olympic events. They did them by lottery for the locals, who are very keen to see the games.

Sydney had a ballot as well, and i'd imagine London will also.

I seem to remember being told that fencing was one of the first (or the first - i forget which) to actually sell out.
