As posted on the BFA website:

Fencers are invited to attend the paralympic training camp to be held by Nottingham City Fencing Club in Rushcliffe, Nottingham.

The camp is running Friday night, Saturday and Sunday on three weekends the 15th (now gone), 22nd and 29th during August 2008.

The primary aim of the camp is to support Lee Fawcett's training and preparation for the Beijing Paralympics in September. In addition other members of the GB wheelchair fencing squad will be in attendance for coaching and training with the national coach for wheelchair fencing Laszlo Jakab.

We are looking for advanced and intermediate (fencers with some competition experience as a minimum) able bodied foilists and particularly sabreurs to fence with Lee and his team mates to provide them with a challenge in preparation for the Olympics and future events.

In addition to contributing to Great Britain's Olympic preparations this camp offers fencers the chance to try wheelchair fencing and at the same time learn more about wheelchair fencing competition and coaching.

Attendance at this camp is free and lunch will be provided for those attending the Saturday and Sunday sessions

Went down to this on Friday and Sunday... it's excellent fun! Really good to try something different, as always to fence new people and a lot of the ideas are very similar to able bodied fencing. It's got to be good for your hand speed too!!! If anyone was considerring coming along on the next couple of weekends my advice is do it!

I second what Bezza said - I was there Friday and Saturday and had a really good time. Lee is always up for fencing new people, and is looking for a range of people to train with. Plus, Laszlo was setting up exercises and structured sessions for the able-bodied volunteers.

Thank you to all those people who attended the training sessions to support Lees preparation for the Beijing Paralympics. Thanks to the following local East Midland Clubs who turned out and provided fencers:

-Chilwell Blades Fencing Club
-Arnold & Carlton Fencing Club
-Woodhouse Eaves Fencing Club
-3 Blades Fencing Club

A big thank you also to all those who travelled from far (Edinburgh, Sheffield, Yorkshire, Wrexham) and near to attend the camp and provide quality and variety in the fencing.

Lee will be on the BBC this Saturday as part of the Paralympic Games opening ceremony and hopefully will be included in the coverage of the wheelchair fencing on BBCi.
