Sounds Fun!

Unfortunate that it clashes with 'Bonn' for the already talented Cadets and 'Elite Epee' with 'Tomorrows talented Cadets' (at least the South East contingent ).

Can we have more dates please - hopefully ones that don't clash with anything ?

Hi Magpie

The "don't clash" is a bit of a problem. From October last year, to September this year, we didn't hold any sessions, for which I apologise on behalf of TA and England.

This was partly due to key personnel being distracted with the YST schools project, partly due to venue availability, but a key issue was trying to find free dates.

A quick glance at the calendar from a multi-weapon/multi-age group viewpoint will quickly show that there are very few, if any, dates that don't clash with something. Our volunteer staff and paid coaches also have commitments of their own.

The England Executive agreed that if TA was to continue the good work that it has achieved in the past, then we had to accept the inevitability of some clashes. We would obviously avoid the really silly ones (like the BYC weekends) but the sport and competition base is growing so rapidly that we all have to change our expectations about scheduling.

We hope that coaches, fencers and parents will take a positive view, and work out the best mix of competition/training schedules for their fencers, depending on age, location, level, weapon and aspiration. If anyone would like help with this sort of planning, please get in touch with Matt, myself or any of the TA team, and we will be pleased to help, or to put you in touch with the person best placed to advise.

Many thanks

Ray Stafford

Hi there,

yes, it IS "fun", but you/ whoever is already making the cadet foreign circuit, you/they/their coach may think the fencer is receving enough training. Having said that, I'm not sure you can EVER have enough training.....:D
