Just a side form something slightly brought up in another thread.

What car do you want? I mean fantasy car, in reality I want something that gets from A to B without too much hassle (and a driving liscence :) )

But, when I enter fantasy car world I become slightly more fussy. I like sports cars. Coupés. Convertables. Performance wise I'm not too knowledgable- or particularly fussed. I'm almost hedonistic in I just like what I see when it comes to some cars.

Like the Mercedes Benz SL500. Or the BMW Z3. Or the Ferrari F355.

There's a dozen or so cars I like at Aoife's Cars (http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=1781941&uid=962566).

How about you?

Hudson
-28th April 2003, 20:04
I'd love to have a jet black lamboguine. Or fauilling that Tarquines Championship winning Alfa 155 touring car, that would be fun.

Aoife
-28th April 2003, 20:22
Nice. Black is nice, I like black, silver, and red (on some cars). I don't like white cars that much. And I abhore british racing green (but only because I've had to wear it as a uniform for five years  )

Mitsubshi Lancer Evolution VIII

Because they do 0-60 in under 5 secconds and also have 4 doors and a boot...

http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/evolution/key_features.asp?strCar1=QB9

Also £30,000 isn't bad for a car

-29th April 2003, 16:13
mine would have to be a 1962 ferrari 250 gto. although the one that won le mans went for 12 mill so it might be a bit out of my price range. evo's are pretty good though. i also wouldnt mind a mustang.

Yes, is a point being made?

I dribble when I see a Jaguar XJR15; does it make me any less feminine? (half a dozen other things do, okay :) )

Hudson
-29th April 2003, 18:57
Got a close up look at one of the Jaguar F1 cars the other year now that was a smart car. ( close as in got to touch it, i came over all funny :dizzy:

Aston Martin DB7 in british racing green or silver.

But I do quite like the old MGB's

Aoife
-30th April 2003, 17:57
I like quite a few of the new MGs :)

(I do like some old cars... just not many :) )

What do you all think of the Mazda MX5? (As a cheap sportscar, not as a supercar of any kind :) )

((Picture of one attached for the uninitiated))

Psymon
-30th April 2003, 18:19
How can you even think about the mx5 it is a usless piece of mass produced Japanese(not saying i dont like Japanese cars just not very good at making standard two seater sports cars) rubbish.

Anyway how dare you when you can get what has been called the best lower budjet 2 seater around (the stunningly beautiful and British) Lotus Elise for

£22.995 BRAND SPANKING NEW

( the same price as a mid range Mondeo!!!!!!!!!)

twohappyhippos
-30th April 2003, 18:44
well i want a red audi TT convertible  i have taste. either that or a pink cadilac ;)

Hudson
-30th April 2003, 18:55
A pink Cadi. YOU HAVE NO TASTE.
If you want an american car a 1986 police special as seen in the Blues Brothers. Now that was a great film.

TBennett
-30th April 2003, 19:03
you are all wrong....

An Aston Martin Vantage (tongue hangs out...dribble etc) in Racing green is THE nicest car there is starting at a modest £92,500. A little out of my price and insurance range!!!

Failing that, a Jaguar XK8 in silver is also an amazing car. this one starts at £48-56,000.

nice...

twohappyhippos
-30th April 2003, 19:57
i have taste!!!!!! hehehe

-30th April 2003, 20:22
taste is a ford GT40 not a pink caddy

bufc99
-1st May 2003, 00:25
Hudson, I totally agree with you Blues Brothers was one fo the best films ever, Blues Brothers 2000 was reasonable but just another broing sequel type of film.

Another dream car, Aston Martin V12 Vanquish in British Racing Green of course

Hudson
-1st May 2003, 09:50
Ecen though not as good as the first Blues Brothers 200 was still a good film, Good songs, great cars chase and some funny one-liner's.

bufc99
-1st May 2003, 10:46
Mack got a minute.

Aoife
-1st May 2003, 10:49
Surely taste is subjective?

A pink Caddy would be fairly cool. Not the most 'trendy' car, but certainly an eye-catcher :)

bufc99
-1st May 2003, 10:52
nope i'm afraid i can't agree with you there cos a pink caddy has not been, is not, nor will ever be any type of good taste.

Aoife
-1st May 2003, 10:58
Who would have though flares could come back into fashion? ;)

Gold
-1st May 2003, 11:08
yeah but a pink caddy was never in fassion so how could it become fashionable again;)

bufc99
-1st May 2003, 11:12
lol

Hudson
-1st May 2003, 15:05
I think the only times i've ever seen a pink caddy was i some 70's movie like Dirty Harry/Shaft era being driven by some pimp who would get brutaly murdered upon it's fur lined interior.

twohappyhippos
-1st May 2003, 15:50
no way guys!!! pink caddys rule! its just the fact that you lot all have bad taste  hehehe.

Hudson
-1st May 2003, 19:24
Esther you and taste got together like military and intelligence, and wether and and acurate forcaste out here (today will be hot and sunny. Today was windy and sand storms) Plus you can't have taste you know me.

Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago. We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes; it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Blues Brothers?

bufc99
-2nd May 2003, 00:53
Yep, it is indeed. Prob the most well known quote from the film.

Hudson
-2nd May 2003, 12:41
You can't be saying you've never seen the Blues Brothers. It's a cult classic, Music, song, jokes and i belive (unless Blues Brothers 200 beat it) the biggest car crash every on film.

bufc99
-2nd May 2003, 19:03
no, i think that the original had more cars than 2000

Hudson

thought so. What a crash.

Eifion
-11th May 2003, 20:04
The car that I drive is a Peugeot 307 XSi (2 litre).
My dream car would either be the Aston Martin DB7, or the new BMW Z4, which my extremely lucky brother in-law got the chance to test drive (as that is his profession).

If you like the Z3, I suggest taking a look on the BMW website.

The Z4 is 'phwahhhh'

Hmmmm I'm not much of a car person myself, I'm a biker at heart and always have been.

However if I wanted a car it would be the Aston Martin Vanquish :)

But still I'd take a bike any day :)

Hudson
-13th May 2003, 18:58
Any car driven by bond will do me. No more traffic problems on the M6

Aoife
-13th May 2003, 19:31
Especially not with all those guns and stuff ;)

Hudson
-13th May 2003, 19:39
Sure would put an end to sitting in traffic jams. Then again the same could be said for having a tank, just drive straight over the top of everyone :tank: :un:

neochrome
-13th May 2003, 21:23
Got to be ... Aston Martin Vanquish

- in silver ( Mr Bond )

hmmmmmmm

Eifion

All sounds good. Especially the Vanqiush, but how about a little chopper?

bufc99
-14th May 2003, 10:48
little nelly perhaps???

I forget which bond film but a fold away helicopter that fits into a couple of suitcases has got to be worth having

LiZzIe
-14th May 2003, 10:52
Best car?? hmmmm...*thinks for a while*........

The toyota cilica (i know iv probably spelt it wrong!) is pretty nice, and a mazda mx-5 pre-200- (with flippy-uppy headlights) is a beautiful car, but then theres MG convertibles that are quite tasty too. I've seen a car in my area, i dont have a clue what its called or what make it is, but i think it could be a Roadster...it was two toned......*DROOLS*...

anything fast, shiny, soft top and metallic rates high on my list of nice cars!

Eifion
-14th May 2003, 22:45
There's one Bond film with a car that turns into a plane too. The film with that scary little man, Nick Nack. What's the name of that film?

Moose
-15th May 2003, 03:14
The Man With the Golden Gun (I think)

Hudson
-15th May 2003, 07:42
Yes it was the man with the golden gun. The car goes into a barn and the wings and engine fix to the top of the car, then flies off leaving bond behind.

neochrome
-15th May 2003, 10:22

Sorry, but just...NO! BRG is a hideous colour, silver black and deep blue are beautiful car colours...BRG is just wrong. one of my teachers has an MX-5 in BRG, and another has an MX-5 in black. The black car is a gorgeous little beast, but the green one is just no where near as nice.

Its just a shame that the Esprit (used in The Spy Who Loved Me) was such a god awful car, I remember when Top Gear did a 1/4 mile test against a Ford Escort van, and the Esprit lost....

Aoife
-15th May 2003, 21:14
I have to agree with Liz, BRG is not a nice colour!!!

(then again, both Liz and I are somewhat biased, having been forced to wear BRG for 5 years at school.... enough to make anyone sick of it :) )

Oh, and the reason the black MX5 (of the tecaher owned-MX5s mentioned by Liz) is nicer is also because it's the old model, which, in my opinion, is nicer than the new one.

But then I have a thing for flippy-up headlights :)

Moose
-15th May 2003, 21:26
The Mitsubishi GTO was like that. The old model, with pop up lights, was so much nicer than the new one, without.

Aoife
-16th May 2003, 20:18
I've begun to really dislike Freud... because I keep seeing sexual connotations in everything. Like I'm beginning to worry that my love of flip-up headlights is something sexual about the whole 'rising upwards' motion.

Darn Freudians.

Hudson
-16th May 2003, 20:20
Please stop reading Freud then or god knows what you'll come out with next

Aoife
-16th May 2003, 20:28
lol, you should hear my 'freudian explination' of the teacher who always stands all his board markers up on his desk... and gets really frustrated if you knock them over :)

But anyway... that's off topic, and we all know I never stray off topic.

That and when you're looking at a young man you're attracted to and a voice pops into your head saying 'isn't he like a younger version of dad?' Argh! Damn Freud!!!!!

Anyway.... erm, cars... yeah. What kind of car would Freud drive nowadays? (wasn't Freud the one with the theory on 'tunnels'?)

Or your English teacher

As for Freud, all I can say is those who talk about it the most get it the least.

Aoife
-17th May 2003, 12:23
Hey! You stay away from the subject of teachers!

(though some of them do have nice cars)

And I do hope that Freud comment isn't dirrected at me!

Hudson
-17th May 2003, 12:31
I'm sure it wasn't.
Was it?

Moose
-17th May 2003, 14:41

Nah, that was a comment directed at Freud himself.

As for the teachers, would *I* do something so cruel?

Why not the SL55 AMG? (in the merc amg range the proceeding 0 is not included, so it's a bigger (and faster engine) than the 500), with AMG tuned engine and a whole host of trimmings and extras, and a price tag to match.

there's also the SL600 which has a 6 litre engine rather than a 5. personally I prefer Brabus tuning than AMG, and I don't think the 600 is available in the amg range. the SL600 last time I checked was £107,000 :D (An old boss has one and I checked the price when he bought it)

The problem with the Z3 is that it depreciates rapidly. Take a look at the price of second hand Z3's and you'll see what I mean. There's also the Z8 which is somewhat nicer (it has an M5 engine instead of the Z3 engine)

Personally, I prefer cars with a touch of class, for me the Z3, the SL etc are all too common and mass marketed. I prefer the TVR Tuscan-S.http://www.highresautoimages.com/tvr/tuscans8.jpg I also rather like the DB7, but these are a little too common as well. In reality however I'll probably end up eventually getting like a Z3 (tho my dad would probably kill me - he sells mercedes) although having said that the Tuscan-S isn't that badly priced. If I was to choose a mass marketed car I liked it would have to be the classic - the 911, although you see them everywhere now, so they're kind of lost their lustre appeal somewhat. They're still extremely nice cars tho. I also like the Jag XK8

Sorry but when u know an 18 year old, who's the biggest tosser on the planet who drives on of these, it tends to lose the most part of it's attraction. Not saying it's not a nice car, just that's what (or rather who) it evokes images of for me ;) They're becoming a lot more common as well

Ideally a bit earlier, but with the roof off on a sunny day you'd struggle to surpass this for £6k

hokers :)

Saab sports coupe or Saab estate any time. Power, performance and style! Total opposite of my fencing technique!

Jenrick, did you say you had a technique?????

Dream Car is any Aston Martin. Had a drive in a DB7 - sheer bliss!!! Love Porsche 2.

For someone of immense ability as yourself to not recognize MY Technique I am deeply dismayed!! after all we have the same COACH!!!!
as for the car you'll have to get rid of that Lada!!

GSXR 600 - or R1

Now bikes are good looking

Moose

Nah, if your looking at a 600 you want the Kwak ZX-636, bigger bikes you want something along the lines of the GSXR-1000, it makes the R1 look like a kiddies toy

I'm so madly insane about cars so there! Girls can like cars. I'd love a black 8 litre engine Lambo with blue light underneath. Ask any questions about cars, i'm quite knowledgable. Test me!

Lotus Elise is my favourite too! Yay someone else who doesn't think i'm mad. Ever been in one? I went to this Great Experince Day and got driven a few times around Branshatch in A Ferrari F355, Subaru Ipreza WXK Turbo, Lotus Elan Sport and Lotus Elise 190. That was amazing but the Ferrari takes the prize everytime for speed!

Okay try car engines, performance, recommendations and stuff. Top speeds, whatever... Not colours, i'm no good at that, you know being just a bit colour blind, lol.

The problem with cars like that is the easiness of speeding. It'd kinda ruin the dream.

<Jambo, still sulking after getting pulled for doing 95mph, while taking on the mobile, on the A1>

Has to be the jeep wrangler sport in black, oh so camp, would prefer it in pink a la Barbie, but they dont make it in that colour
Or maybe a TVR Tuscan S with green - purple chameleon paint (changes colour in different lights) it is so sexy with a 4 litre engine! Why have boring old british racing green when you can have paint that changes colour, of course purple to pink would be better, I know that BGR is traditional but colour changy paint is so much more exciting

Two completely different cars but both completely wondeful in totally different ways
