To go with the team rucksack as modeled by Mudge (everyone else wearing theirs) plus matching underwear! No I'm not exaggerating (adidas' version of under armour).

Notice that Sisi has made it onto the Aussie website

Great result, absolutely b.....y marvellous. Some very proud parents 'floating around' today!
Wot chance fencing getting properly funded for 2012?

Spoke with Mudge this morning (evening for them) 4 happy WEs all stood on the podium, 4 GB flags being raised, God Save the Queen, the full works. Tomorrow the team event.

Conditions - hot, no air con, just fans - credit crunch.

Great result for Ben and Lukas, well done.

Point of interest: former Tyke and Yorkshire Youth League alumnus Rebecca Cribbin was fencing for New Zealand.

Wot chance fencing getting properly funded for 2012?None, however the value of getting a GB fencing team on this trip should not be under estimated. The BOA heirachy is out in Australia, our team out there are exemplarary ambassadors. The time between the DEs and medal fights allowed the news of how well the team were doing to get 'round, two more gold medals if possible tomorrow won't hurt the cause.

Australian Youth Olympics

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Australian Youth Olympic Festival.

I am very pleased to report exceptional success for the Great Britain fencers at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival. This is the first time that Great Britain has competed in the fencing events.

In the Women's Epee, Great Britain, won all the medals, with Sissi Albini 1st, Corinna Lawrence 2nd, and Hannah Lawrence and Caitlin Chang 3rd equal.

In the Men's Epee Ben Wtite was 1st and Lukas Kuhlmey was 3rd.

Winning six of the eight possible medals in the individual competitions is a superb achievement.

Congratulations to all our medal winners and their coaches.

Well done to team GB.

However, I am somewhat confused by how teams were selected for the finals as GB lost to Malaysia in the semis.

Well done to team GB.

However, I am somewhat confused by how teams were selected for the finals as GB lost to Malaysia in the semis.

From what I understand they were run as pools?? However the results page did occasionally make mistakes as to who had won and lost. As to the photos being incorrectly labeled they are in the process of changing them.

They have now changed them. I wonder how many e-mails they got? Certainly one from me and I bet from KJK.

They lost to malaysia in the poules, but beat them in the semi final:

I have to say that the results page for the event is very confusing.

I also have to say well done to the fencers, great experience of a major event atmosphere even though the variety of the opposition was somewhat limited it takes some doing to maintain your quality in that atmosphere and temperature.

This page

Specifically shows the boys losing to Malaysia in the "semi finals".

Another link shows the en garde page which is obviously clearer.

Just a link to a BBC blog, it's about the Olympics in general but if you read down it's really positive about fencing:
