Which blades are FIE 2000 standard approved and which are not and would you use the latter?

I thought that all blades sold now are S2000. They have to be S2000 for UK opens.

They should be stamped S2000. The older ones I find whippy and wileded by old fashioned thugs and will refuse to fence anyone with one.

It depends which S2000 you use, cos you can sometimes get enough blade flex across the horizontal plane for a nice flick to wrist

The first S2000's were stiffer than required.

Stiffness has its place, I wouldnt want to try parrying with a floppy blade...

Its not parrying that's the problem, its hitting the opponent after the parry when your blade is wobbling all over the place!

I would imagine if a you had a very FLOPPY blade changing lines quickly would look funny.

I agree with the latter part of what you're saying, however, actually parrying the opponents blade in such a way that it doesnt hit you is VERY difficult without a stiff blade.
