Magdalena Kumiet of Poland beat Keum-Nam Lee of Korea, battling back from 14-11 down to win 15-14. Quite a comeback. Here are some of the main results...

1. KUMIET Magdalena, POLAND
2. LEE Keum-Nam, KOREA
3. ZHANG Li or LI Na, of CHINA, not sure which
3. VANSOVICA Julija, LATVIA

5-8, not sure but I believe
2 from China
1 from Spain
1 from Germany

Brits...
27 or so, Georgina Usher
28 or so, Jo Beadsworth

So at least 2 L32 then. Am not up to speed on WE, was it strong?

Not being a women's epeeist, but as someone who does follow results from WC to WC, I would say that it was respectably strong vs. your average WC and notably stronger than Ipswich last year. Holding it in London clearly made a big difference.

The total entry was between 95-100, half of the world's top 8 were there, and there were likely more than half of the top 32 as well. Teams included Korea, China, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Ukraine, Sweden, Latvia, Spain, Portugal. The main absent teams were France, Hungary and Russia.

Some of the names I remember and their world rankings:

3 Mackay
4 Heidemann
5 Kazimirchuk
7 Lamon
12 Duplitzer
13 Cascioli
18 Lee
20 Halls
21 Kumiet
24 Zhang
26 Vansovica
28 Hablutzel-Burki
30 Kim
35 Shen
36 Li

Anyway, the results should be up on www.fie.ch in the next couple of days.

I take that back -- the results are already up, & it's only Monday morning! Kudos to the FIE for more timely reporting of results.

Ah Olympic year...

I believe that results must be with the FIE by 10am or something crazy.

So for GBR 2 L32 and 6 L64, which if it was stronger than average I reckon is good. Well done ladies.

Anyone know how big the entry was/ how many rounds of DE before L64?

2HH mentioned that there were about 90 excluding the top 16 seeds (with byes) - so about 100 to 110?
