If we thought it was all going a bit wrong....

The funniest part I have found is reading the comments from the French fencing community...
(Thanks to whoever it was who showed me this - really made my day)

Wow.

My eyes. They burn.

I like the GB Uniforms. The GB Stripe is nice, LP London kit looks good, and the Union Flag masks work well. I think it's a nice uniform, and not really different to what GB already use for internationals.

The French don't look happy, do they?

Wow. Just, wow.

Or, "Il n'y a pas de place comme la maison! Il n'y a pas de place comme la maison! Il n'y a pas de place comme la maison!"

The shoes and socks are, in a word, truly revolting (ok, that's two but I felt the intensifier necessary). The jacket doesn't look particularly flattering either, especially on Grumier.

Fortunately the French stripes could make pretty much anything look good IMO (especially if they have the little badge with the olympic rings on like they did for Beijing).

Wow. Just, wow.

Or, "Il n'y a pas de place comme la maison! Il n'y a pas de place comme la maison! Il n'y a pas de place comme la maison!" I think it's: <<on n'est jamais aussi bien que chez soi!>>

Place = space in French. I'll leave you to ponder the implied meaning with regards to the size of one's dwelling relative to current location :D.

/French nerd.

Thank you for the French lesson, but it was just for comedic effect. I should probably have appended the caveat that I don't in fact speak a word of French, so kindly direct all criticism to the good people at Google! :). Still, as long as the meaning was clear, I'm happy. (I'm only a pedant in one language at a time ;))

If the shoes are the ones I have seen they are more orange than red and , largely due to the colour, quite possibly the ugliest fencing shoe I have ever seen. I have been told this is the colour for all adidas 2012 sports shoes........

If so, then they were erm, interesting...

I've seen the shoes up close and they are 160 quid of serious ugliness.

They're ugly but not that ugly (and you'd never get away with charging 160 quid)

Just think the clash of fencing whites with those trainers. One can only hope Team GB doesn't wear them...

I'm so tempted - although they need some lime green on them.

These are a couple of the photos put on the French "Escrime Info" site regarding the new outfits! I have not seen, or heard, many comments which are complementary. Some made the comment that they were pleased they had not been selected if that was what they had to wear! And lots of comments about whether the red socks are in line with the rules, normally FIE say only white socks.....
