I have been asked by a parent of a cadet how they should brief an S&C coach they have taken on privately to help support the S&C work that the fencer does at the National Academy.

Can anyone help? When an S&C coach asks what you want what should you answer?

I have my own question which I think is related:

What are the measurable goals from S&C for inclusion in the cadet personal training plan that needs to be produced by August 31st?

I got a very rapid answer on the first question by email with a suggestion that the person should get an S&C coach from the academy to talk to the proposed personal coach.

See here http://www.mdx.ac.uk/aboutus/staffdirectory/Anthony_Turner.aspx

Then in terms of progression it was suggested that I look at the BF site for 4 levels of Physical literacy skills at http://www.britishfencing.com/academy/academy-resources/.

The loading & further progression follow all these.

Probably also worth checking they are on the UKSCA register at http://www.uksca.org.uk/uksca/. A lot of people call themselves S&C coaches... Our National Academy S&C coaches are all MSc graduates or candidates.

Thought Id add it for the benefit of others.

It's not quite clear from this, but Anthony is on the UKSCA register and Rhys I believe is accredited by UKSCA, although his name doesn't appear on their website register. I can't remember the other guys names, but I would be surprised if they were not on there or working towards it.

I am pretty sure they all are. This was a link to check your local strength and conditioning coach who might help between national academy sessions.
