Would like to know who's going, but nothing further on the BF site yet - Would still like to echo Keith's message and wish the best of luck to those competing.

Just go to www.eurofencing.info/ , click on Euro U-23 Champs, then inscription tab and you'll see the entrees for each weapon. Nothing on Official website last time I checked. Know there is 3 EFC fencers going, Matt Henderson, Catriona Sibert, and Chloe Dickson. Good Luck to them and all the rest traveling to Poland.

Do BF pay the entry fees for this competition?

Do BF pay the entry fees for this competition?

The chances of that happening are somewhere between fat and zero.

Neither we nor the rest of Europe it seems take the U23s seriously. To be honest if they keep charging that price then one one ever will. Even the World Cup GP events "only" cost €100.

Happy hunting to the 2 MS's and the 1 WE competing in the Ind Comps today.

Mo GB MSs I'm afraid - Honeybone withdrew a few weeks ago when senior European squad was announced (too close together to do both) and Clarke withdrew a couple of days ago because of injury

Kat is V2/D4 after the poule, losing three fights by just one point.

She has made the cut to the L32.

thanks for the link, still watching - some of these girls could even coach Sharapova in the art of screeching, SOOOO tedious...and to think there's another thread elsewhere on sportsmanship.

Good Luck to the 3 EFC fencers today, Matt Henderson, Cat Sibert, and Chloe Dickson. Along with Emma-Tina Segal making it 3 in for the WF. Also there's 2 more ME's with Matt, so 6 fencers in total in action today. Get stuck in. Poules are up on the official website.

Unfortunately the lads all missed the cut with only one victory apiece in the poules

Unfortunately only Catriona made the cut from the WF with 2/5 victories. Poules were a complete carve up with no-one winning all their fights.

Catriona faces Kirschen (GER) in the L32, to whom she lost in the poule 2:5

The Mask website is a pile of sh1te. Catriona should be on green now and I can't see a dam thing.

If your going to use this technology then make sure it ruddy well works!

Saw the match on the FIE video site.

Unfortunately Catriona lost 7 - 15 to Kim Kirschen of Germany and finishes 21 overall, with Emma-Tina Segall 28 and Chloe Dickson 30

Well done Ben! Slightly out-classed in the L8 but Safin was 2012 Junior World Champion and is currently 59 in the world so no disgrace. Good result.

Thought his name was familiar!

Safin just seemed to be able to disguise the point of acceleration of his attack better than Ben.

-7th June 2013, 17:55
That was part of it. To be fair Ben rallied in the middle but I get the impression he relies on his speed, fitness, and athleticism and could improve his second-intention, decision-making, and general tactical nous. Safin hit him with the same 2-3 actions, Ben's response was to try and fence even faster.

Then again, Safin is clearly a class act and Ben got a very good result.

Foilling Around
-7th June 2013, 23:34
Safin is obviously a class act given that he won. You are right, he basically did the same thing to get to 7:2 up then picked Ben off when he made errors in preparation.

Not a great start for the new pathway when Ben (rejected) makes L8 and Tom (accepted) is 0:6 in the poule.

To be fair Tom is a better fencer than that, but still playing catch up from the start.

Well done to Ben. Top 8 is a good result.
