Tore my calf muscle during practice after doing two spinning classes.

Has anyone had a torn calf muscle?

Yes. And it took 6 months and physiotherapy to get better.

Prevention is better than cure so for the future look to your regime.

In the meantime - no fencing for you. You can work on bladework sitting down. Rest up. It's Christmas anyway so take the time to chill out.

Normal muscle injury guidelines apply.

Yes. The most painful thing I have ever done. Had to learn to walk again in a swimming pool.

Thanks for the input guys.

My ortho told me no fencing for two weeks but is allowing me to do weight machines and stationary bike.

I will work on my hand and do any other sitting arm exercises that I can get from my coach.

I had a minor tear of my left calf. Initially thought it was my achilles tendon but thankfully turned out to be "tennis leg." I was walking without a limp in about two weeks, taking lessons and doing footwork in about 4 and ready to compete in 8 weeks.

Thanks for the input.

As of today I can kind of walk with no pain(no strength in calf).

I am currently walking around in a boot the doctor gave me.

I will try and do a chair lesson today and see how things go.

Thanks guys for all the comments.

I have gotten approval from the doctor to fence again.

However, I blew the diet and ended up gaining a lot of weight.

Could anyone give me suggestions on losing the weight given the fact that I sit down at a desk most of the day.

Thanks

Don't eat so much. Importantly reduce your portion sizes at all meals and/or cut out snacks. Exercise will rarely lose you weight.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I met with a personal trainer to help gt things started.

I am now logging everything in myfitnesspal. So far things are looking good.
