The company that insured our Club equipment does not want to continue with our policy and we finding it difficult to find a replacement. Can anyone point us to a company willing to insure fencing equipment?

Not Wimbledon's as they doubled their premiums.

Did hey give you a reason why they discontinued your policy

The reasons given to our Treasurer were as follows:

The original company said that 'they had reviewed what types of business they wished to cover'"

Our Treasurer has also approached Norwich Union who gave no reason for their refusal.

Another company described it as a 'specialist risk' that they might only cover as a package e.g. with 3rd party

Our Treasurer is trying to find another company, any ideas would be very gratefully received.

Is it down as fencing equipment, or sports equipment?

I'll answer the queries I know the answer to, I've asked our Treasurer for more information but I think he is about to go on holiday.

Premium last year was 129 for ,5000, having purchased quite a bit of new equipment, we would be looking for more cover. I don't know if this was an as new policy. I think we would be interested in either.

We are probably willing to pay up to 500 for insurance.

Quoting the insurer:

"During the past 12 months, a complete review of our Private Clients book of business has been carried out in order to forumalate our strategy for the future. From this review we have concluded that it is no longer economically viable to handle cerain types of business."

Please note that as far as I know we've never made a single claim.

They passed on our details to another insurance company, Norwich Union, but they have declined to act.

I don't know how the equipment was described but I have the schedule in front of me and none is described as 'swords' and the word fencing is also not mentioned, though foils, sabres and epees are described.

The insurance is due this month, so this has become very urgent.

Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

Premium was for theft, damage and loss, home and away on replacement basis.
