Team announcement:
http://www.britishfencing.com/news/latest-news/?n=1877

Looks like no MST? They are not selected by rights as they are currently 15th in the rankings (have to be top 12) but there are a couple of other individuals who didn't make the individual criteria (1xL32) there who have been selection on discretion.
Maybe they don't want to do it or maybe I'm misreading the selection, but I think they should have the option under the circumstances.

Mens Foil Individual
James Davis
Richard Kruse
Marcus Mepstead
Ben Peggs

Men's Foil Team
Keith Cook
James Davis
Marcus Mepstead
Ben Peggs

Men's Sabre
Will Deary
James Honeybone
Curtis Miller
JJ Webb

Women's Foil
Kate Beardmore

Men's Epee
Harrison Nicholls

I checked it when I posted and neither MFT or MST were entered at that point.

Glad to see they're going to get their chance.

Rumour has it not until the L64s.

That makes good sense as from the FIE point of view that is when the main competition starts and only 4 pistes to cover.

Live streams available here:
http://sports.cctv.com/live/waicai6/index.shtml

Looks like piste cams on these links as well:

http://sports.cctv.com/live/waicai3/index.shtml
http://sports.cctv.com/live/waicai4/index.shtml
http://sports.cctv.com/live/waicai5/index.shtml

Player doesn't allow any scrubbing to other time indices though, you have to watch live (or pause and resume), no replays.
If anyone else works out how to use this, please let me know.

James vs Gemesi is 04:20 UK time and JJ vs Curatoli (not Berre) is at 04:35

These @@$$ing streams!

Don't seem to be able to go back in time on any of the feeds and they don't seem to sync with the live results so I keep seeing the results before the match is shown on the streams.

If you have Eurosports on your cable channel, you can search for Fencing and then create a series link. The programmes last 30 minutes and show just the finals.

However, I can't help but think that the FIE have missed a trick here. When American Football was introduced on Monday nights to the UK on Channel 4 in the 1980s, they showed brief highlights of all the matches and then an extended showing of the most exciting match over the weekend. The shows were epic.

Watching the European Championships on TV on Eurosport, they give equal billing to all the weapons, and there were some monumentally dull matches even for someone interested in the sport. Perhaps they should take a page out of American football's book and show brief highlights, and then extended sections for the exciting matches. In the Europeans, France beat Poland 41-40 in women's epee, with the lead changing frequently. It was enthralling, but it was given equal billing to some one-sided unexciting matches.

In men's sabre, Italy beat Germany 45-44 in the semi-finals (which wasn't shown at all), and then they showed quite a lot of a rather dull one way final between Hungary and Italy 45-33. I'm not saying that there wasn't excellent sabre on display, but it wasn't gripping stuff.

If we are to attract viewers (and sponsorship), we should do a better job of showing the most exciting matches, and not giving equal billing to all weapons in a weird sense of fairness. PS: I'm mostly a foilist.

Here is the streaming link and you can choose Green at the bottom.

It's behind though!

Still showing Women's Sabre L16 but Richard has already beaten Ka Long Cheung to reach the L8. He could be up against James who fences Lee of Korea

Many thanks. If James can win too, GB will win its first Senior World Championships medal since Bill Hoskyns in 1965.

Huge, HUGE, result for Richard (and Ziemek)

Great to see Richard get a WC medal.

Shame it wasn't Gold, which I'm sure they will be disappointed about, but when the dust settles the magnitude of the achievement will set in.

Also, CONGRATULATIONS to James. Great to see him performing again on the World stage that he's capable of.

Well done guys!!!!
