Sport scholarships
The Advanced Sports Squad
The principal method of financially supporting talented student athletes at the University is membership of the Advanced Sports Squad . Individual Squad members develop their own 'Action Plan', which determines the services they require. Membership of the Squad is the equivalent to a sports bursary of approximately £1000 p.a.

The Vice Chancellors Award
Twelve awards (current value £3000 pa) are made to new students who show exception talents in sport or the arts. Individuals will be expected to have succeeded at national rather than regional level and have met the normal academic criteria for entry to the University. The Awards can be provisionally made to prospective students, and confirmed upon the studentís acceptance of an offer of a place at the University.

Lloyd Robinson Sports Scholarship
A few scholarships are awarded each year to students of exceptional sporting ability, who may also demonstrate great need. Recipients of this award, worth £1000 pa, are required to become members of the Advanced Sports Squad.

The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS)
The University is a member of the South West consortium, of TASS HE institutions. This national scheme provides funds for talented young athletes who wish to pursue a formal academic programme but maintain their commitment to performance sport. Grants of £3000 p.a. are awarded by National Governing Bodies for selected sports.
