Has anyone contacted BUSA to sort out the problem with new timings, are all matches to be fought with old timings or new, have the universities agreed on this? or is it left to the individual universities, could cause some confussion, especially if you have trained on the new timings and then suddenly find you are back on the old.(or vice versa)

Is there a problem? If BUSA is using Leon Paul kit then they are all 'new' timing
IMHO people should stop moaning and accept the inevitable. There is no 'new' or 'old' timing, just the current one.

This will be the case for the team finals and individual championships at Nottingham, but from week to week there are matches at each university, who have there own equipment like any other club.

And confussion will reign. Could get some interesting arguements.

That is simply not true.
Some competitions this year will use the new timings and some will not. The way the fencing is affected by this is significant, and people are having difficulty with the new equipment, hence all the discussion...

The "problem" is surely about consistency within the same competition. The BFA website says that open comps can use whichever timing but all competitors must use the same timing. (which seems rational). If the BUSA matches are all part of the same competition you would expect the same timings from week to week to be required.

But the reality is likely to (?must) be that many universities will not have updated their boxes.

This is true regardless of any problems with the functioning of one timing or the other as such.

from the BUSA web site

Statement on timings for Foil and Sabre
Please note that all BUSA league matches shall be played under the ‘old’’ timings for Foil and Sabre. The timings to be used in the individual championships and team finals will be confirmed in the relevant pre-event information.
