ok i dont fence epee that often, Foil is really my mean weapon…. hear me out anyway. I have been use Visconti grip since I start fencing foil, yet I have switched into Belgium recently. I quite like the feel of it ”in foil anyway.” And now I have this big epee game on Sunday, I never fence epee with a Belgium grip just yet, as some of you might aware Visconti and Belgium has a huge difference. One good at flick to hand, the other good for point control. i am also consent the fact in epee the beat is much harder than in foil, don’t know if my hand would hold Belgium still after receive a strong beat. Yet knowing Belgium grip is about an inch longer than Visconti ._. that would make a difference as well.

So your experience will really help my game and confidence. “I have no intention end up on strip at the tournament and wondering what if ;p.” thanks

The various grips are referred to by different names depending on who you speak to - this side of the pond we don't refer to Belgian or Viscounti grips - although if you were to provide photos we'd say "Oh, it's one of those" and satrt an inconclusive debate on them - it's all a matter of personnal taste.

I find the Visconti to be the only pistol grip worth using for epee. I believe this is true in higher levels of competition as well.

Aha - the Belgian is the "wretched plastic thing" and the Visconti is the standard pistol grip that everybody uses.

I actually prefer a Zivkovic B2 "elephant ear" http://www.zivkovic.com/sub_category.jsp?category_id=4&sub_category_id=31

Technically in my understanding they are both "Crosse" grips this side of the pond (although most often refered to as Pistol) I was under the impression that Visconti is a reference to the original producer of the ali grips.

The plastic crosse grips seemed to be a lot more popular when i was fencing about 10 years ago than it is now, then if you saw a pistol grip foil/epee it was most likely to be a plastic, now it is most likely to be aluminium.
