so if i put in an order online between the 14th of Aug to the 22nd Aug the total cost will automatically subtract 12%? is that from midnight of the 13th onwards?
Are all products available during the sale or just old stock items which need shifting?

It would be so much easier for the online customers if you gave a discount equivalent to the VAT (i.e. 14.89% of the gross) so that we can know that we will be paying the net price you already state in much bigger type than the VAT inclusive price. ;)

gbm
-13th August 2004, 11:30
I hate people who only give net prices.
People who only begrudgingly give out inc. VAT prices, usually in tiny letters, are generally disliked.
I like to see what I'm going to pay, not what a company is going to get!

But I thought you loved LP?

gbm
-13th August 2004, 12:23
Ah, but you should notice that LP do give out prices inc. VAT, and so fall under the 'generally begrudged' category. They are the exception from the generality.

It is still REALLY annoying though - change it LP!

PS did I get net and gross prices confused in my previous posting?

I think LP do the ex vat Vat / inc Vat thing that most other retailers (general rather than fencing) have left behind because so much of their trade is overseas - foriegners dont pay vat hence also the other currencies thing.

 Ps unfortunately Wales isn't classed as foreign for these purposes so you don't qualify for what is effectively a 15% discount:grin: :upset:

I know LP put VAT inclusive prices in as well, it is just that they are much less obvious than then VAT inclusive ones.

I wonder what proportion of their sales do go outside the EU (since they would have to charge VAT to EU based individuals).

About 40% of websales go outside the EU mostly to the far east, USA Canada and Australia which is why the site quotes both VAT inc and EX prices on every page.

gbm
-14th August 2004, 16:47
So if 40% of people use the ex. VAT prices, and 60% of people use the inc. VAT prices, why are the ex. VAT prices five times the size of the inc. VAT prices?

Neo
-14th August 2004, 23:55

Was the site set up to do this from midnight onwards - cos that's when i ordered!

wingnutLP
-16th August 2004, 07:47
It should have automatically started at midnight but thinking about it the server that the site is run on may be in a different time zone for all I know!

I wasn't able to check the system at one in the morning but it was working fine at 8AM.

Your reciept that was e mailed to you should show the discount if it was applied if not I can add it manually.

uk_45
-19th August 2004, 10:18

We have a summer sale each year but I am afraid we have not yet set a date for this year. I should know by the middle of the week.

-20th September 2005, 10:18
perfect timing eh?! lol.

don't you have an armourer at you're club? surely you can get him to fix your foil...or is behond repair and has well and truly snuffed it?!

Farrago
-20th September 2005, 10:53
I'm at a uni club so the people who know how to rewire foils won't be around for a while yet.

It just needs a rewire so I'm going to have a go. Just think if only the sale had been on longer I probably would have spent 20 instead of about 2. Maybe it's a good thing it waited:confused:
