There will only ever be two tips of the day:

"Use the search function"
"Use English: with at least an attempt at grammar and punctuation."

I believe that these are the two most oft cited tips on this forum.

Though I think "post of the month" might be good. I think that if we had a mechanism for recommending posts (a vote button or something) then people could submit easily submit their approval. I've been on other forums where this is implemented.

Can mods not view positive rep attributed to a post?

But if you say this you will get negative rep from our anonymous illiterates.

This post is a candidate! Trouble with rep is that you have to put it about a bit, you can't just rep the same person in quick succession.

I've seen on other forums stickied 'Best of' and 'Worst of' threads.

Obviously one shows some of the most informative, useful threads ever posted and the other gives a good example of what not to post.

There used to be a prize for post of the month back in... ooh.. 2003 if I remember correctly.

Maybe a "Kids" section... where all the new kiddies can Tellytubby post as much as they like and those who don't want to read it don't have to?

I think it would be a good idea to have a tip of the day for new members who really don't know what to do.

Yes please!

I'd like an epee tip, preferably one where the grub screws don't fall out as soons as you hit someone . . .

You could have a 'penalty of the week' but you'd need to rope a good referee into writing it.

I have to say that whether they count as facts is highly questionable.
