part 2: You've posted about team events. I know Jon W has advertised these at the LPC, but I don't think any teams have ever signed up for any of his team events. Perhaps we are all too concerned about our own personal rankings, unless it is actually the National Team Championships. I did help out a couple of weeks ago at the Cambs and Herts Junior Team Foil Event. t'was a great day for all involved, an u/12 & an u/16 event, 16 teams of each, and could be single or mixed sex. it went v.well and lots of young fencers had lots of fencing, all sorts of abilities. For some of the fencers it was an opportunity to fence away from their clubs for the first time, for others, they took it quite seriously. I'm not sure there is enough desire amongst the people who you would want to come to enter a non-serious competition. Perhaps that's the problem that JW has found. Anyway, thanks again for yesterday, and I look forward to taking part in the next event you organise. Kind regards Pete eames
Dear Chris, thanks again for organising the comp yesterday. It was really good, and how competitions should be run. (caught me out at one point when the next round started much sooner than I expected...!) There was one thing which I'm not sure you were aware of; in the middle of the final between Gareth and Phil there were a series of announcements over the loudspeaker about the boys competition poules having to be re-drawn. Gareth lost a couple of points whilst that was going on. i've never seen Phil fence before but he seemed completely unfazed about anything at all. I just wonder if that made a difference, or if that's just what happens sometimes. I thought it was just a bit unfortunate.
part 2 to follow:
Did you see a jacket last night?
I was concerned you did not appear to have any friends so I have added you
Hope your well
