Thanks for the report, Miacat, much appreciated.
Just noticed that I'd linked to the wrong tableau for the GBR v HKG and JPN.
It should have been ...
I have to agree that the GBR WF team did really well to beat Hong Kong and Japan who are ranked 12th and 11th in the world respectively. Took me a while to find the team scores but eventually located...
It's probably too late (or is it?) for the Essex Open as 'no entries after 6th September but Bristol (albeit at £40 pw) is still open until 12:00 on 16th.
How did that song, beginning with a...
The document linked to by Cesh (see table on last page) shows that all weapons are affected (not just foil)
Nice one cesh. The table that explains the new NIF assignments is right at the end of that document.
New season NIF out for foil and goodness how it's changed.
Check August foil rankings on BF (MF and WF - not identical in NIF allocation) - It'll make an enormous change to upcoming tournaments....
It's nice to see someone in our sport get recognition at a local level.
Yup, NIF building up nicely for all six weapons.
Get those entries in to share in the ranking boosts!
Thanks to everyone who have helped fill in some massive gaps in my education:)
Very much appreciated.
That certainly clears up the relative rankings issue and it came as a surprise to me that I should have checked the 2013/2014 rankings but I know now:)
Thanks very much for that, SingleLight.
I'm looking at a link to a document that I thought was the most up to date regarding how non-uk (overseas?) fencers contributed to Nif in British Opens....
Firstly, well done Jen!
Secondly, from what I've heard over the years, your phrase 'odd little event' is spot on. Yup, it does seem to have a soupcon of eccentricity that some seem to think has a...
Let me correct this for you. This IS a really great competition.
Someone, for a few years now, has put their money and their time into running the London Open.
That they chose to do it the way they...
This thread, dunno how, reminds me of that old saw 'It's not the winning that matters but the taking part'
Thanks to social media we've a reasonable idea of who (albeit just a nationality in all but...
It's now three hours since Louise tweeted that Jess was in the final so that would be about 16:00 SA time. Given that the opening ceremony was scheduled to begin at 18:00 (17:00 BST) it's probably...
Here's a short (1:33) video from the SABC about the Cape Town Champs
Thanks for that NQAV, I was searching for a list too.
Here's the EF post from FB:
England Fencing are proud to announce thier junior and cadet fencers selected for Commonwealth Fencing...
You're missing the point here, WF.
BF is the organising body for fencing in this country and are very 'internet savvy'
This is not about PS or any individual volunteer who freely gives their time...
Fair point, CF. If the date was moved then your point is totally agreeable.
Your btw plus :) is also fair, albeit, less certain!
And, exactly as it was for the generations of fencers who walked the same path years earlier.
Have we changed that much within this generation, CF?
Given the context in which you put this phrase together it would take an extraordinary stretch of the imagination to associate any cadets and/or juniors with the statement of yours that I extracted...
"Only a complete moron ..."
Your comment speaks volumes...
Re JohnL: "Being cynical, the performances at the world/cadet championships didn't exactly exhaust them did it."
Riposte: He has a point.
Re J-A, Davis; "In regards to a break, they are doing far...
Golly, and gosh, you said exactly what I wanted to say but couldn't think of the right words to use!
