Well, since you asked... (I didn't put it in my first post for fear of my explanation being terrible, but here goes!)
If you have the IGS between yourself and the handle:
- loose wire comes up...
At last years British Champs I remember having the repeated problem of the wires breaking at the IGS (likely because my attempts all looked like illegal build #3 with the wires wrapping round the...
Hear, hear! Whilst being sympathetic to the issues I don't want to hear about them in every conversation!
Did you miss that bit, JohnL?
In case it wasn't clear, I agree with this wholeheartedly.
Probably yes, I think we can all agree that not wearing a mask is making the pupil concentrate better.
BUT if he can't do it with a mask on that's just because the coach hasn't figured out a way...
I would suggest that keeping the pupil so far inside his comfort zone that he doesn't make a single mistake means that he's not being challenged and therefore is not learning anything from this...
This thread is getting depressing.
I don't know whether the OP is a fencer or not, but I would like to present a positive image of the sport I love.
Cheer up, cynics! Save the grumbling for the...
Very interesting, thanks Chris!
That's interesting. How so, Chris?
Why are most people talking about BF building something new? Here's the quote from the end of the WCP review summary on the website:
"We look to establish a dedicated National Training Centre for...
Plenty, several people were taking video throughout the day. Neil Brown asked them to send it to him so he could edit it all together into a really good resource and then send it out again to...
Just want to say, this was a really enjoyable day! I learned a lot and have loads of good ideas to take back to the club with me.
Thanks to Didier who was brilliant and to BF for getting him over...
That's not a sword-in-hand assessment. I really don't think it's OK to give out coaching qualifications to someone without ever having watched them give a lesson.
As you say, though, it's not that...
I think that's the point I was making. There isn't really an incentive to strictly follow the system, but in an ideal world the qualifications would match up to the coaching ability.
I'm not sure...
This is a good point. You could say what's the point of having the bit of paper if it's not doing anything for you? BUT it would be good to have the admin lining up with what goes on in the real...
Wow, not a bad come back! Well done.
This was really good last time. Good to see it's open to seniors again, June.
I would definitely like to come along if I can. Will check the diary.
Happy to help when I can! :)

I was thinking to myself what opportunities are coming up for the candidates to put themselves out there in person to the fencing community before the closing date(s).
From the BFA calendar and my...
Online voting closes on 22nd March, so no need to rush, I feel. I'd get too impatient if I voted now and had to wait over a month to find out what the result was! Besides, I'm curious to hear from...
Disagree - I think LP made the right move in putting some effort into the packaging of this premium product.
I don't know the answer to the above question, but reminded me to say I have got one of these handles now and it is very nice to fence with. Still in the intermediate stage, more Sugru will be...
Holding back progress!!! :-p
BUT, it would presumably be alright to have a small box with no batteries at all and just a mains socket of the appropriate voltage...?
I am still wondering why there isn't yet something as small as a HitMate that is compatible with standard spools and ground leads???
I just compared and I reckon a standard LP club box is about...
