Everything's somewhat different in Fife - not least the grip on reality that some of the natives seem to display :(
An obvious example would be the taller fencer continually trying to pick off their opponents' upper arm, shoulder or head. A small step in with almost a beat-parry (taking their point up and wide of...
Hit your opponent...
Bloody good fun
Oh, how I wish you were on facebook, so I could spam your page with pictures of the grumpy cat... ;)
Given his forum moniker, I'd have thought going to the light side would be a bit of welcome relief...
For someone who claims to have all the answers, your lack of basic knowledge of some things is astounding...
Besides, I'm not sure JohnL would appreciate being accused of being a sabbie ;)
I see your point, but really, if someone is good enough to win all the domestics, they'll be able to pick up a couple of 64s over the course of a season, even in ME, and especially in MF.
If you can't break into the top 4 from domestics alone, doesn't it rather imply that the top folk have been getting International results, thereby increasing the chances of funding for that...
I suspect that there will be some sort of plan B built into the funding models, so that there will be no "glass ceiling" that you refer to.
In fact, I'll go on record as saying that I fully...
Surely if the kid is that talented and driven then they'll try their best to succeed in spite of the problems?
It also sounds like between the rounds of many a fencing competition I've attended...
I suspect it's more a case of Ziemek getting more to do, rather than just getting the same job.
I reckon I might have a shot at this one...
Would being a "fencing enthusiast" be an advantage or disadvantage, do you reckon?
Would you not want them washed as well?
Any excuse is a good one.... ;)
1.) A camping stove for cooking bacon.
2.) A fridge for juice/water/beer/spirit mixers.
3.) No epees or sabres in it.
4.) Pixie Lott's phone number.
5.) Bill Gates' credit card.
The comments on that are why I don't like people.
I suspect that now the Olympics are out of the way, and the way that some people were allegedly treated, people simply feel that they need a break from competing Internationally.
Bear in mind that my suggestion would only be a very quick and temporary solution at best. You'd still be better going and buying one if you had the cash IMO.
If you want a practice dummy, go to the American forum and search (good luck!) for them. IIRC there were a few designs linked to on a thread or two fairly recently. If you just want a target to hit,...
Here's hoping the forthcoming twelve months provide everyone with health, happiness and wealth :)
I'm talking about when my brother and I were involved (over 20 years ago :(), but while one set of fencing kit cost a lot more than goggles and trunks, the frequency that they had to be replaced...
I (or rather, my parents) found that the cost of travel back and forward to training, extra washing and several dozen pairs of trunks, caps and goggles outweighed the cost of the fencing kit. Then...
It's not actually that cheap, my local swimming clubs are more expensive than the closest fencing clubs are. Also, no sport is cheap once you get to a decent level.
And I never once mentioned...
