sleeve for stripes
leaving aside the thorny issue of whether kids who havent represented their country should be allowed to wear narional stripes (I vote no) I wanted a definitive answer as to whether they can be worn on BOTH sleeves?
i understood it was non sword arm only but recently saw a jacket with both sleeves decorated
A DT type answer please - also what to do if this is seen, a complaint to the ref?

Usually back arm and both legs.
Going by Leon Paul's website its both sleeves for foil, just back sleeve for epee.
Couldn't guarantee that LP are going by whatever the official rules are but I'd expect they wouldn't offer to sew on stripes that would then be deemed illegal. Most of the guys I've seen with stripes have had them on both arms and all the publicity shots of the GB foilists coming up to the Olympics appear to have them with stripes on both arms too.
wouldn't make much difference at foil as the arm is not valid target. You wouldn't want that extra seem in epee, just something for the point to catch on.
The original thought was that it should be both legs and the back arm for both. The argument being that there should not be anything to catch the blade on the sword arm in épée and the two weapons should be the same. It seems to have changed however and foil had both arms now. What épée does I have no idea.

Should have them printed at epee like most countries so there is no chance of epee catching on the leg stripes.

Seems to answer the original question, it doesn't matter regarding the rules provided the strip is on both legs.For the following events, the wearing of national strips (logos) is compulsory on both legs, optional on the arm(s). All the logos worn by any one fencer must be identical.

What counts as representing GBR abroad? Going to an open in a different country? Going to a satellite event in a different country?
Or actually being picked by BF to represent your country?

As a satellite is not a selection event, as long as I have the appropriate (GBR) lame does anyone know if there would there be any issues with me leaving domestic stripes on my kit? Specifically in reference to the LP Cup
Apart from FA serval posts above the question has not been answered, well for épée anyway.
I have seen a fencer told to remove badges sewn onto his sword arm as the referee rightly said the point could catch on them, also why right handers can't wear a left handed front zip jacket etc.
So what is the ruling for épée?
