    Dear fencer, parent and club,

This is an invite to the 10th Challenge des Mousses qu’terre ( Foil: Boys and girls) which will take place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th January 2013 at La Rochelle.
The club is keen to develop the links already made with British clubs over the last few years and hope to see lots of new fencers in 2013 to add to the 22 French clubs who sent fencers last year.

    Several points of information:
    • Full rules: See attached document
    • The close of entries will be Thursday 10th January 2013
    • There will be a cartel stand at the competition for equipment sales and repairs.
    • For those arriving by train or airplane there is a list of hotels and there will be shuttles
available for pickup from the airport, station and hotels to the competition venue. Accommodation and food is also available with David Tomlinson at their nearby guest house and apartments. (
    • There are direct flights from London Stanstead to La Rochelle with Ryanair. Other airports with 2 hrs drive are at Bordeaux, Nantes and Poitiers. There is a direct TGV from Paris to La Rochelle.
    • British entry is through David Tomlinson not via the French Federation website

At the moment there are flights from Stanstead to La Rochelle for £12 each way (£38 with bag and admin. fee).
The Ryanair schedule isn't ideal as the flights are Thursday, Saturday and Tuesday. The U13's could arrive Saturday and leave Tuesday - I can organise either some training or a La Rochelle historic visit for the Monday if anyone is interested!

Flights still very cheap! £15 plus bag each way. (£30 with bag - never any problems with fencing bags). What are you waiting for? Surely the only question in your minds is how to get the trophy and prizes in your fencing bag for the return journey!

Not these days perhaps ... but see the thread from (I think) 2006!
What time does check-in close? How far away are we?

Ryanair are taking the mickey!! They've put the prices down and taken a way the charge for debit cards!!

    Competition cost.

    1 fencer and 1 parent:

Competition entry: 10 euros (T shirt free on entry)
Ryanair: £62 including 1 bag in hold
3 nights stay either in 2 bed apartment or shared room subject to availability. Includes breakfast and dinner.
Transport from airport to accomodation and to competition: 250 euros.

Total cost for 2 people: £ 290 plus cost of travel to UK airport and a bit for your lunches.

Possibility of a bit of training at the La Rochelle salle too. (worth coming just to see the salle!)

    Merry Christmas.
