I suppose that might make slough at least slightly interesting to non-inhabitants

Jedi apparently is listed as the 7th most popular religion in the UK after an internet led campaign to nonsense the most recent Government Census

I entered the Miller Hallet one year and put my nationality down as Klingon for a laugh. was looking forward to seeing the poule sheets marked as "Pavaday KGN" but it didn't get through for some reason.....

And how exactly do you pronounce pavaday with a Klingon accent?

    Is it with a "cclrizxg"

    or a "pkhwzzltr"

    Default Slightly Off Topic..

Seeing as someone has mentioned Slough, could someone tell a not particularly experienced competitive fencer why the Slough Open is not in Slough? Or even in Berkshire?

Because it isn't, but it used to be. Just like the Leicester Open migrated for a while, fell apart then morphed into the Allstar Cup. Slough is essentially a certain weekend on the calendar rather than an actual place.

I promise the current Miller-Hallett management will never let this travesty happen.

    Live long & prosper.

I am surprised that the sabre ranking do not yet have Cornish as a nationality.

Maybe instead of separating fencers in the preliminary rounds of competitions by club affiliation, we should do it by religion?

Imagine the discussions in the pub after the competition.

"Now, there were two Catholics, a Presbytarian, a Jew, a Rastafarian and Jedi Knight................... !!!!!!"

Oh, the inappropriateness of it all !!!!!

Whether it is worth going there is another matter. As John Betjeman said:

Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough!
It isn't fit for humans now,
As for religion, you might note the signature.
If we take in our hand any volume; of divinity or school metaphysics, for instance; let us ask, Does it contain any abstract reasoning concerning quantity or number? No. Does it contain any experimental reasoning concerning matter of fact and existence? No. Commit it then to the flames: for it can contain nothing but sophistry and illusion.

I used to share an office with someone who believed the Earth was only about 10,000 years old on the teachings of their religion (or their interpretation of it). That was interesting.

However, the one true faith involves spaghetti, flying, meatballs and pirates.
