I think we have a long way to go before we'll be recognised as "the world’s leading fencing nation".

I had no idea Maginot was involved in fencing. You learn something new every day.

René Roch is conspicuous by his absence (considering Usmanov is on the list).

A few more Americans on that list than I would have expected.

    ALL of Ward/Zagunis/Jacobsen/Korfanty?

Yet no sign of 10x World Champion Pozdynakov?

If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

Romankov is in there and Dal Zotto is not. Good.

Christian Noel and Jean-Claude Magnon not there as far as I can see. Shame.

I have investigated. Federations were asked to propose their candidates for the Hall of Fame and the FIE COMEX decided the 100. I gather it was all done in a bit of a rush.

I am surprised for GB that Gillian Sheen is not there as our only Olympic Champion. (maybe the FIE rejected her or maybe BFA did not nominate her.)

Bill Hoskyns' caption is a bit confusing

Well I would have worded it differently.

Yep. It seems to be missing a few words. See where it mentions 1958; it doesn't say what he was especially effective at etc.

Bill Hoskyns was a British fencer who appeared at six Olympic Games winning two silver medals in 1960 and 1964. He competed with all three weapons (doing so in the 1956 and 1964 Olympics) but he was especially effective at, where he was the 1958. He is one of only five fencers to compete at least six Olympic Games.
