Lightbulb British Fencing partners with Jockey Club Services

I wonder whether the partnership has been in the works for a while, or was it a spur of the moment thing.

perhaps they will be cropping the administration function, spurred on by the need for efficiency.

still, at least the NGB are no longer saddled with that responsibility.

I wish they would stop making these decisions on the hoof.

    Default beginner

Hello everyone, I didn't know where to post this. I am 27 and I have always been interested in fencing, I did aikido from a very young age until I was 19. I would like to start fencing but I am worried as I don't want to show in a fencing club and feel inadequate for being a beginner.

As long as they leave us with stable finances, we should be OK.

Mate, you'll be fine just turn up at a club, all beginners are inadequate.
Finding a beginner's course, often run by clubs periodically will make it easier with a bunch of you in the same boat.

Don't worry about it, you'll be more than welcomed. While there are loads of clubs and competitions in the UK that cater to all sorts of abilities. So turn up because at the end of the day, we all have to start somewhere. And even if you make a mistake or find fencing footwork strange compared to Aikido, don't fret. Most coaches are incredibly encouraging while we all learn through making mistakes.

Where ever you go I'd also recommend taking a bottle of water and some court shoes with you (trainers will be fine for a session although will most likely break over multiple sessions).

yes I will go soon and let you all know how i fair, I have bought the foil fencing mask and also the fencing trainers.I'm sure I'll be okay. I have wanted to do fencing since I was 9 so I feel I am ready for it.
