You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!! Ha ha ha ... (Thud)

This year Francine Robb & myself will be helping with the competition DT.

We both hope fencers will help by supporting the event this year.

Default Hats off to the team

Hats off to the team at the Birmingham International today. Men's foil started promptly with over 110 entries and was done and dusted by 4.30pm. The new venue is great - 24 pistes and room next door for four more - with Leon Paul Towers and kit. Really excellent. Costa Coffee in the foyer was a real bonus. There was a sabre referee teach in which meant plenty of sabre refs. Only slight disappointment was in the foil refereeing department (lack of numbers, not quality).

A total sea change from previous years. I haven’t used up all of my matrimonial good will in once comp as happened last year. Thank you Jon & Francine plus all refs & all other organisers for an efficient competition.

I live away from my family home during the week so a days fencing is a stretch, knowing the comp would be well run was a big sell.

Yes agree.WS today ran very smoothly! First world problem overheard - why is the sabre screen smaller than the other screens....

    Default Lost Epee!

    Hi all.

I lost an epee today, which was left by piste 14.

It was a Left handed pistol grip size 5 epee - FIE Leon Paul V blade. Blue pad. Had stamps from several Cole Cups and commonwealths on. I think it was marked with 'Dack' in the guard but not sure.

I need it for the nationals in two weeks if possible!

If anyone's picked it up please get in touch!

Well run comp, no two to three hour wait between poules and DEs.

Suggestion for future comps, mats for straightening weapons. It may not matter in the future when the floor will not be pristine.
A problem shared is one more person to laugh at you.
