    Default Eastern Region 'Performance' Training Session - Open To Everyone

    In the lead up to the English Youth Championships on the 16th & 17th June, Eastern Region are holding a Foil & Sabre performance training day on Sunday 10th June with a fantastic coaching team. We would like to extend the invitation to attend to ALL U18 fencers regardless of their regional affiliation. This training day will be held at Royal Masonic School, Rickmansworth Park, Rickmansworth WD3 4HF.

    Minimum 1 year’s fencing experience required to book on this training day.

    Pierre Harper – Foil
    Pierre has won six National Senior Foil Titles, he has won three Commonwealth Game’s gold medals and competed in the individual and team foil events at the 1980 Moscow, 1984 Los Angeles and 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics. His coaching career has been equally successful having taken a total of fifteen Newham and Cambridge Swords fencers from grass roots to GB international level, and a further six to England International standard.

    Dominique Szokolovics – Foil
    Dominique has competed at five World Championships. When she was 14 she had won the Cadet, Junior and Senior Women’s Championship Titles – a still unequalled feat in the sport. Dominique has also competed at five European and two Commonwealth Championships and became the top-ranked woman foilist in the UK before retiring through injury. However, a recent return to competitive fencing saw her climb quickly through the ranks to be the GB Women’s Number 2 and the National Women’s Foil Champion again in 2014. Dominique is Head Coach at Fencers Club London.

    Linda Strachan – Foil
    Linda has competed at the highest level; the 1992 Seoul and 1996 Barcelona Olympics, fifteen World Championships and five Commonwealth Games. She was the founding member of Newham Swords, one of the most successful foil clubs in the country.
    In 2015, Linda was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to Sport.

    Pawel Osmanski – Foil
    Pawel is the performance coach at FCL. He is a published author and practitioner in fencing-specific sports injuries, and an expert in Functional Movement Screening. During his fencing career Pawel was ranked 7th in the world, was eight times Polish National Champion plus a Junior World Cup and Junior European Champion.

    Sarah Paveley – Foil
    Sarah is Head Coach at Cambridge Swords. Sarah began fencing when she was 9 years old and has competed at all levels. She has won two Commonwealth Games silver medals. Sarah has recently been appointed to the British Fencing Talent Pathway team for Foil.

    Peter Wright – Sabre
    Peter is a highly experienced coach and fencer. He has competed nationally and internationally and represented Great Britain at Junior and Senior World Cup events. Peter has also been a member of the Senior England Sabre team and has represented Great Britain at the Fencing Master’s World Championships. He also became the youngest ever British coach to hold a British Academy of Fencing (BAF) and Acadamie D’Armes Internationale (AAI) Master’s Diploma in Sabre Fencing in 1998.His pupils have represented Great Britain at Cadet, Junior, Senior and Veteran World Championships.

    Paul Davis – Sabre
    Paul Davis Fencing Academy is a multi award winning club including; Team of the Year, Coaches of the Year (Male and Female), Disability Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year U21, and Elite Athlete of the Year. Paul himself has competed at County, National and International level. Paul has a wealth of experience as a youth coach.

    James Honeybone – Sabre
    James competed at the London 2012 Olympic Games and is currently the British No 1. He has recently began coaching with the Paul Davis Fencing Academy. James is a level 2 sabre coach.

    We expect this training session to fill quickly, therefore, if you would like to attend please do not hesitate to send in a completed entry form and payment. Entries will be confirmed.
