    Arrow Student 5 Nations 2018

Latest BF news article mentions it - http://www.britishfencing.com/news/latest-news/?n=1873 - as taking place on the 1st/2nd Sept but I can't find any info about this. Anyone got any further insight?

    Bingo-ish

It's the Youth 5 Nations, a slight upgrade to the historic Junior Quad in that the Republic of Ireland will be joining.

We intend to take the best elements from both the 5 nations and School Games formats:
    • Wheelchair events to help develop collaboration and integration between BF and BDF
    • Poule unique for the team event
    • Training ground for home nation Team Managers
    • Introduce home nation fencers to "international style" events without breaking the bank

    Stupid question alert!

Is it like the Public School Games where only non-state schools can enter?

    Is it invitation/selection only?

    Thanks.

This is Home Nation level, not school. So think of the 5 Nations for Under 18s. Each will have their selection policy.

Its running in Wales this year, so I plan to put info onto the Welsh Fencing website. Just haven't done it yet. Hopefully will get this sorted in the next couple of weeks.

I will update here once its in place.

    (He's not taking the hint.)

North Wales is lovely what with the castles and mountains and excellent transport links to the NW of England. Yep, sure is nice.

    Go on then. Why not.

Don't disagree, Chris. In fact, we are off to North Wales for our holiday later this summer.

Unfortunately, the venue we have booked is in the South. I would also add that the South (and West) are equally beautiful.

The West is best goes without saying, although it is Wales so you're never too far from some nice scenery where ever you are. It'll probably take Chris a little bit longer to travel to the South although it'll be worth it I'm sure.

Thanks Gethy. I followed your link and now four days later I'm a fully signed up member of the Max Boyce fan club! Isn't there a rule against this type of thing on the forum?

I made the mistake of following the link too and now find myself wanting to start spontaneous, group renditions of Men of Harlech in public on a daily basis.

I regret not listening to what I was taught in school about the dangers of drink, drugs and Welsh singalongs.
