Fighting Fit Fencing club is a mixed level, ability and gender club for all ages. We are based in North London and are expanding both our club and school/outreach program and need a dynamic foil coach to join our team. The clubs aim is to promote the sport of fencing from beginners’ through to competing Internationally at cadet/Junior & Senior levels. You will work alongside our head foil coach as well as specialist coaching staff of Plyometrics, S&C, sports psychologist and directors to provide a balanced, hardworking and committed atmosphere for our fencers to grow.

• Full Time Foil Fencing Coach

To provide high quality coaching in both our schools and club environment. You will work alongside our coaching team and will be expected to coach fencers from all ages, levels and abilities. This could include entry level through to travelling alongside our Cadet & Junior fencers to the EFC and JWC events throughout Europe. Outreach programmes may also include corporate events, fencing demonstrations and anything that the company associates with promoting the sport of fencing. Our coaches are responsible for developing not only a disciplined and fun environment, but we pride ourselves on a positive learning experience regardless of age or ability. Any candidate must share not only a joy of our sport but also the passion for enriching our fencers lives through their sport.

Supporting our Performance athletes: working alongside our coaching team you will:

• Help maintain and amend our high-performance plan on an ongoing basis
• Help establish competition, training & periodization plans for our High-performance athletes
• Coach both group & individual lessons according to the level of each fencer
• Help organize and deliver training camps and competitions
• Attend competitions both domestically and in Europe as coach to our fencers
• Give monthly reports on training schedules, post competition analysis and athletes progress

General Club Duties working alongside our coaching team you will:

• Help organize and ensure our club programme is up to date, energetic and exciting for our members
• Ensure all our customers receive the best quality of coaching and support needed to fulfil their goals
according to their ability
• Give group & individual lessons according to the level of each fencer
• Help organise club sessions including social activities and in-house events
• Ensure our customers are happy and fulfilled with their club experience School/Outreach Programme
• Follow our written coaching programme for our school and outreach clubs
• Organise demonstrations, tasters and ensure our school clubs (breakfast or after school) are run in
accordance with our health & safety and child protection policies
• Help plan and organise inter school fencing events
• Recruit new fencers from our schools & outreach to our clubs (based in London & Berkshire)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list is not exhaustive)

• To work alongside our coaching team and support the head coach and their directives.
• Have a commitment to equal opportunities. Be responsible for the supervision of participants and ensure
they are provided with an enjoyable and focussed learning experience
• Monitoring and enhancing performance by providing tuition, constructive feedback and encouragement
• Identifying strengths and weaknesses at all levels of fencer
• Advising about health and lifestyle issues
• Undertake administrative tasks at both club and outreach level e.g. maintain online registers, carry out
risk assessments etc and when required
• Attend regular management meetings as and when necessary
• Follow current child protection legislation including safeguarding and best practice in sport.
• Ensure all activities are delivered within a safe, controlled environment.
• Administer first aid where required and to follow the company's first aid policy.
• Any other duties considered appropriate to the role

• Proven experience as a foil coach
• Excellent knowledge of working within a club environment
• Methodical and creative
• Patience, flexibility and love for the sport of fencing
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Certificate in first aid and CPR
• Clean driving licence
• The post holder will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service Check

Your hours will evolve around our club opening hours (Monday - Thursday 5.00pm-9.30pm & Saturday 10am-1pm) plus outreach work in schools incorporating both breakfast and after school clubs. You will also be expected to attend competitions and additional training/events where needed to support our club fencers. Events will vary according to the time of the season and the success of our fencers. You will be provided your schedule of work for competitions and events with 4 weeks’ notice in advance.

Starting salary will be circa £25,000 per annum (depending on previous experience, qualifications and level)

Expenses for all travel/accommodation both domestically & internationally will be covered for events attended.

Car – a car will be provided to use daily and all professional expenses relating to the vehicle including insurance will be included.
