    Club list

One of the new board members has asked for help in finding a club in his area. One of the resulting posts for this has pointed out that not all clubs are listed in the UK clubs list above.

I thought it might be useful if we compiled a list of clubs which do not appear in the list here or at BritishFencing.com.

Use this thread for posting details of your club (or any that you are aware of) that aren't listed. URL's as well would be nice.

As an example I'll start with mine:

Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh. Check us out on the web @

    www.rcpf.co.uk.

The SF website still isn't up and running and the Leon Paul list will direct you to there.

I wouldn't consider it 'my' club as I've only been twice (so far), but it doesn't seem to turn up in listings very often.

Club name - Spectrum Fencing Club
    Coach : Steve Davey
Location : Spectrum Leisure Centre, Guildford, Surrey
    Times : Tuesdays, 20.00-22.00
    Cost: £5.20
    Weapon : Foil / Epee

Would be nice to have it in the list just so that anyone looking for somewhere in this area knows all the options.

It's good that there's some feedback coing in on this. I'll make this thread a 'sticky' so that it can always be available to newbies. From time to time I may prune out unnecessary posts.

This is Aldershot F.C. It has moved from the location shown on the BF website.

It is at Normandy Village Hall. Which is a brand new village hall just outside Normandy (I'll post some directions shortly).

Hokers is right, it is on Thursday
    Juniors 19.00 to 20.30.
    Seniors 20.00 to 22.00

It is run by Steve Davey, who coaches foil, epee, and sabre.
Graham Forster (from Uhlmann UK [formerly Blades])also coaches there. Graham mainly coaches the seniors and coaches foil and epee.

It is £17 per month if paid by direct debit, or I think £5 per session.

    Default Aldershot F.C.

It is off the A323 between Aldershot and Guildford. Travelling from Aldershot, go through Normandy, and take the second right at a cross roads (signposted Puttenham). The village hall is then about 400m from the cross roads, on the left, just past a BT telephone box.

I dont know if the club is listed anywhere but its in Sandown on the Isle of Wight at the high school. I'm not sure of the official name either, if it even has one. But if your ever on this island come along, its £2 if your new but I doubt they will charge visitors. Oh and its Wednesday evenings.

erm ... the website has been a bit of contention with some people in Scotland. I'm sure we are listed there but we'd also rather be listed elsewhere as well as .... erm ... we don't think that the SF website is much cop.

There has been a bit wrangling happening about the the SF website. I'll leave it to those more fully involved to comment but a newer site has been stymied by certain folk with access to the SF hierarchy. So much so in fact that there is a feeling that the site may get pulled altogether. That's a rumour which is yet to be passed through rumour control. I understand that the administrator at SF is on holiday so I'm not expecting a formal answer till next week.

I was wondering if anyone knew of clubs in the North East that are not listed of the British Fencing website?

My local club on there appears to be on a summer break and the number given on the website is for the Sports centre where they hold meetings and they know very little about the club, so even a contact number for Darlington Sword Club or any coaches in the area would be appreicated.

EDIT: Just found the www.fencing.net list and a club near by at Guisbrough, but any information would be helpful
