Anyone over five can fence at our club, regardless of sex or age - many people have taken up fencing well into their fifties and beyond. Opponents can compete on equal terms, as strength is NOT a requirement. Fencing is really a sport where skill, technique and guile will usually win. Fencing is often referred to as 'chess with a sword'!

The basic skills can be acquired during our six week beginners' course. Here you will learn enough about fencing to get you started in the sport. This course is also an excellent refresher for people who have previous experience of fencing.

The usual times and dates for Adult Beginners' Courses are:
